After numerous complications with anchorages, the Croatian government has also decided to regulate the situation.
Last week, they began an operation to remove illegally placed anchorages.
In Croatia, a concession is required to set up an anchorage. For anchorages outside of ports, the concession is issued by individual municipalities, while for anchorages within ports, the concession is issued by individual port authorities. In these anchorages, concessionaires can set up anchoring devices and charge for mooring. In areas where no concession has been issued, setting up anchoring devices and charging for mooring is prohibited.
And of course, in practice, things are not always as they should be. This is why Croatia has taken the first step towards regulating the situation. On the territory of the Port Captaincy, on August 25th, they started removing illegally placed anchorages. A total of 138 buoys were removed from 17 illegally placed anchorages.
