Lagoon 450

“How to surpass ourselves?” – this was the question asked by engineers and designers when planning the replacement of the legendary Lagoon 440, their own sales success with 400 units sold. Their main challenge was to maintain the core principles: operating the vessel from a command station accessible from both sides of the cockpit, retaining the forward cockpit, preserving the efficiency of the sailing rig and comfort in the saloon and cabins, while incorporating numerous important improvements in terms of safety, performance, and travel comfort. The result is the Lagoon 450!

Beginnings

The Lagoon brand was established in 1984 and became part of Jeanneau’s sports division, which left a significant mark in the world of racing monohulls and catamarans. Today, it is part of CNB, a member of the Beneteau Group, the world’s leading manufacturer of sports vessels, offering a full range of cruising catamarans.

Interior and Comfort

The wide hulls of the Lagoon 450 provide exceptional space, with well-proportioned areas in the saloon and cabins that are easily accessible. The modern interior was designed by the Italian experts at Nauta Yachts, who have maximized space and incorporated many interesting details.

The outstanding comfort of the Lagoon 450 is impressive. The saloon seamlessly blends into the outdoor area. The space is bright and open, making it hard to distinguish whether you are inside or outside.

Exterior

The cockpit provides comfortable seating and can easily be transformed into a “party zone.” There is ample space for carefree lounging, even while sailing. The key feature is the open outdoor space, with plenty of opportunities for sunbathing and observing the sea from the forward net. One of the main reasons for the popularity of catamarans is their enormous deck space, which appeals to both active sailors and those who prefer motoring.

Handling

The visibility in the saloon is reminiscent of motor yachts. From the comfort of the cabin, the vessel can be operated and steered using a joystick. It can be precisely maneuvered even in very tight spaces. Turning with both engines forward can be done within the length of the boat, and when engaged in opposite directions, it can even turn on the spot.

Due to the highly responsive steering wheel and excellent 360-degree visibility, docking maneuvers are very easy.

Engine

At 2,900 RPM, the Lagoon 450 reaches a respectable speed of 8 knots, with a very low noise level.

Sails

The boom is positioned high above the cabin to avoid obstructing the bimini. Despite this, the sails remain easily accessible. Electric winches ensure effortless handling.

Conclusion

In terms of size, the Lagoon 450 is a perfect hit. It is stable enough to easily cross oceans and spacious enough to provide a high level of comfort for sailors, families, or groups. Yet, it remains small and manageable enough for any amateur skipper to handle.
