The island of Molat is very popular among sailors. Most people know it for the anchorage with numerous buoys in the Brgulje bay and the port of Molat, where moorings are available. Those who prefer anchoring on their own anchor usually choose one of the anchorages in Sabusa or Zorjevica on the southern part of the island. The other bays remain rarely visited, even in peak season, and some are completely empty.
Our spirit of exploration didn’t let us rest yesterday. As we have done countless times before, we sailed from the island of Ist toward the southern part of Molat, along its eastern side. Cape Solinski, which extends 0.5 km from the island, has two beautiful bays on its north and south sides. Since there was a maestral wind, we decided to anchor in the southern bay, called Zadarljan. We checked the depths on the nautical chart, ranging from 2 to 10 meters, which is suitable for anchoring.
As we approached the bay from the southwest, we noticed that a large part of the seabed was sandy, providing a reliable hold for the anchor. The turquoise water, calm sea, and light maestral breeze kept us cool in the hot afternoon.
In the western part of the bay, there is a sandy beach accessible by a walking path. Given that the island has few road connections, I didn’t expect there to be a road leading to this bay. Only when I lifted the drone did I notice that access to the bay is possible by land as well. This explained the presence of a few people on the beach who hadn’t arrived by boat.
Let the photos tell you more about the bay.
