5 Most Beautiful Beaches in Southern Dalmatia

In the past few months, we have introduced you to the five most beautiful beaches in Central Dalmatia and the five most beautiful beaches in Northern Dalmatia and Kvarner. Now, we conclude this ‘trilogy’ with the five most beautiful beaches in Southern Dalmatia and Montenegro.

1   Divna, Pelješac

The natural sandy beach called ‘Lepotica’ (Beauty) is located on the Pelješac peninsula, ten kilometers from the former fishing town of Trpanj, one of the oldest towns on the peninsula, which today is an extremely beautiful tourist destination. This picturesque peninsula features rocky hills, fertile valleys, and forests of cypress, pine, and alpine fir trees. A large part of the peninsula is covered with olive groves and vineyards, with fruit trees and citrus plants being very common. The entire peninsula is known for its pebbly and sandy beaches, as well as secluded coves that can only be accessed by boat.

Divna Beach, with its excellent location and blue-green sea, resembles a tropical paradise, captivating almost every visitor with its atmosphere. Due to narrow roads, access by land is challenging, making it a perfect nautical destination.

2   Pavja Luka, Korčula Island

Pavja Luka Beach is located in a small secluded bay on the southern coast of Korčula Island, approximately 15 km from the town of Korčula, near the settlement of Žrnovo. The bay has two arms where anchoring is possible. The western arm is protected from all winds except southeastern winds, while the eastern arm is exposed to all southern winds. The seabed is sandy and mostly covered with grass.

The western, larger arm of the bay features a beautiful pebble beach with crystal-clear water. Since the beach is not easily accessible and has no tourist infrastructure, it is never crowded—making it a perfect choice for sailors seeking peace and untouched nature.

3   Skrivena Luka, Lastovo Island

‘Hidden Harbor’ is a true paradise for sailors. Protected from the wind and most easily accessible by sea, it is located on the southern side of Lastovo Island. It is one of the largest and most beautiful bays on the island. As its name suggests, it is hidden from view from the open sea, providing sailors with excellent shelter from strong winds and rough seas.

At the entrance to Skrivena Luka Bay, on the southern side of Lastovo Island, lies Cape Struga, where a lighthouse of the same name was built in 1839. Due to its distance from the mainland, it appears isolated, as if emerging from the blue sea that connects it to the sky. The lighthouse is situated at an altitude of 90 meters on the edge of a steep cliff, offering a magnificent view of the open sea. Thanks to its breathtaking view and easy access to the sea through a pine forest on the northern side, this maritime observation point is a very popular tourist attraction.

4   Pasjača Beach, Dubrovnik

Pasjača Beach is located in Konavle, near the town of Popovići. This beautiful and hidden beach lies beneath towering cliffs. The only way to access it is via a steep staircase carved into the rock, with a 250-meter elevation difference. As you descend, you will feel that something beautiful and wonderful awaits you at the bottom, as Pasjača’s raw beauty takes your breath away.

The beach consists of fine, clean pebbles, and the sea is crystal clear at all times of the year. It is an ideal spot for romantics and those seeking privacy. Due to the challenging land access, some effort is required to reach it, but the lack of crowds is a significant advantage for many visitors.

5   Queen’s Beach, Miločer, Montenegro

You have probably heard that Montenegrin beaches are among the most beautiful on the Adriatic. One of the highlights is Queen’s Beach. Crystal-clear sea, untouched nature, peace, and tranquility adorn this beautiful piece of paradise, accessible only by boat. It is located near Sveti Stefan, surrounded by a dense forest on one side and the stunning, clean sea on the other, which is why it rightfully bears a royal name.

The 120-meter-long pebble beach does not accommodate many bathers, but for those lucky enough to visit, it is a true pleasure. The bay has an exceptional shape, and the seabed is formed in such a way that every inch of the sea reflects a unique emerald-green-blue color, mirroring the lush Mediterranean vegetation on both sides of the beach.
