5 Most Beautiful Beaches in Central Dalmatia

The kilometers of Croatia’s rugged coastline on the mainland and islands offer numerous hidden coves and secluded beaches that can serve as an escape from everyday routine, a way to cope with stress, endless enjoyment and relaxation with the scents of Dalmatian herbs, active leisure time, or peaceful rest away from crowds and noise, in an authentic connection with the sea and nature.

We have selected five of the most attractive pebble or sandy beaches in Central Dalmatia, which are especially popular among sailors, as they are mostly inaccessible from land.

1  Paklinski Islands, Hvar

The Paklinski Islands are the most beautiful part of Hvar’s coastline and, without exaggeration, one of the most stunning locations on the entire Croatian Riviera. The picturesque coastline of the low-lying islands, covered with forests, the deep blue sea, bathing areas, and excursion spots, along with numerous hidden beaches, sun-drenched rocky terraces, and beautiful secluded lagoons, make the Paklinski Islands a true paradise.

2  Srebrna, Vis

On the southern side of the island of Vis, near the settlement of Rukavac, you will find what some consider to be the most beautiful beach on Vis – Srebrna. The sea by the beach has a silver-blue glow. When the waves hit the rounded white stones on the first part of the beach, the entrance into the water is especially stunning. Part of the beach also features flat rocks, and the pine forest reaches all the way to the shore, providing refreshing shade even in the peak of summer heat.

3  Stiniva, Vis

A magical bay, hidden between two high stone cliffs that are only a few meters apart, makes Stiniva one of the most recognizable and at the same time most unusual beaches in the Adriatic, truly breathtaking. For those without a boat, access to the beach—half of which is shaded all day—is quite challenging. Walking down the steep path from the village of Žužeca takes about 25 minutes.

4  Proizd, islet NW of Vela Luka, Korčula

Beautiful sandy beaches surrounded by Mediterranean vegetation can be found on the islet of Proizd, four nautical miles from Vela Luka and about half a kilometer west of the farthest western part of Korčula, separated by the Batala channel. The islet, with its lighthouse and outstanding beaches carved into rocky coves, with exceptionally clear waters, is an unmissable destination for true sea lovers.

5  Zlatni Rat, Brač

Of course, we cannot overlook the Golden Cape (Zlatni Rat) on the island of Brač. Although easily accessible and often crowded, it still remains a piece of the most famous and celebrated Adriatic beach. And for good reason. The sandy peninsula, stretching over a thousand meters along the southern coast of the island, is one of the most iconic symbols of Croatian tourism, and due to currents and exposure to the wind, it is one of the most attractive locations for sailors.
